Police had earlier this week arrested a sports coach on suspicion of possessing hundreds of paramedical stimulants unfit for use, the national police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that the investigations led to the arrest of the owners of two shops in Casablanca on suspicion of smuggling food supplements of unknown origin and which do not meet the quality and safety standards in force at the national level.
Searches of the shops and warehouses managed by the suspects led to the seizure of hundreds of boxes of products and food supplements, the majority of which were intended for consumption through their marketing on dedicated pages on social networks, the same source added.
The suspects have been placed in police custody to complete the inquiry conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, while investigations are under way with a view to determining the origin of these products and the smuggling routes, the DGSN concluded.
