The number of cured people has reached 486 until Friday at 6 p.m (30 new recoveries), i.e. a cure rate of 12.9%, said director of epidemiology and disease control at the ministry, Mohamed El Youbi, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its TV channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
El Youbi also pointed out that three new deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of fatalities to 158. The mortality rate due to the disease is now around 4.2%.
In addition, the number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results is 20,175. These are mainly people who have been in contact with the cases detected, particularly in outbreaks.
According to El Youbi, out of all the new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 163 contaminations have been reported at cluster level (85%).
As for geographical distribution by region, he said that the Casablanca-Settat region has the highest number of confirmed cases with 27%, followed by Marrakech-Safi (22%). Then come Fez-Meknes and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima with 13% each, while the region of DrĂ¢a-Tafilalet is currently home to 10% of cases of contamination.
For the patients' state of health, 79% are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, 17% are in a stable condition, while the health status of 4% is considered critical, he said.
The director of Epidemiology also indicated that the daily press conference of the ministry of Health will be held starting 4 p.m. during the holy month of Ramadan.
