One new coronavirus-related death was reported in the same period, bringing the total number of fatalities to 159, while fifty-one new recoveries were registered, which rises to 537 the total number of recovered covid-19 patients, Director of epidemiology at the ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi, pointed out in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 channel and RIM radio.
The suspected cases excluded following negative tests have reached 21,546, he added.
The mortality rate has dropped to reach 4.1%, El Youbi pointed out.
Thanks to the medical surveillance of people who had contact with confirmed Covid-19 cases, 118 new cases out of the 139 new ones registered over the past 24 hours were reported, he said.
Since the start of the pandemic, 17,843 people who had contact with confirmed cases were placed under medical supervision, of which 7,048 are still being monitored for a period of at least 14 days, El Youbi added.
Regarding the geographical spread of the virus, Casablanca-Settat remains the worst hit region with the largest number of confirmed cases, followed by Marrakech-Safi, Fez-Meknes, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and Draa-Tafilalet, he said.
