The number of people declared cured rose, until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., to 928 with 150 new recoveries, while the number of fatalities increased to 168 after the announcement of three new deaths, said director of epidemiology and disease control at the Ministry of Health Mohamed El Youbi, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its television channel M24 and on RIM RADIO, noting that the recovery rate reached 21,5%.
In addition, the number of cases excluded after negative laboratory test results stood at 1,600 for a total of 28,609 since the onset of the epidemic, added the official.
Of the 69 new confirmed cases, 47 were detected through medical monitoring of contact persons, a rate of 69%, he noted, adding that 25,231 contact persons have benefited from medical monitoring until Wednesday.
A total of 8,948 contacts are still under daily medical surveillance, he said, highlighting a gradual and continuous drop in the virus mortality rate among all confirmed cases which reached 3.9%.
Regarding the geographic distribution, the official said that no change was reported, since the Casablanca-Settat region still has the highest number of confirmed cases (25%), followed by Marrakech-Safi (+21%), Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (+13%) and Fez-Meknès and Drâa-Tafilalet (+12%).
The number of patients treated in a critical state of health remains generally stable, representing a rate of 4%, he said, adding that 82% of cases provided with medical care since the outbreak of the epidemic are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.
