In an update in response to some electronic websites that claimed that the death of the inmate was caused by coronavirus, the local prison of Tangier 1 pointed out that (M.Z) went on May 2, 2020, to the infirmary of the establishment after feeling unwell.

The prison doctor examined him and ordered his evacuation to the Mohammed V hospital in Tangier as the inmate showed symptoms related to diabetes, which the deceased suffered from, the source said, adding that the glucose level and that of ketoacidosis decompensation were high.

The medical examination showed that the deceased inmate was completely conscious and that he had no symptoms relating to the coronavirus, the source pointed out, noting that the deceased did not share the room with those who had tested positive for the virus.
