The number of cured people reached, until Saturday at 4 p.m., 2,461 with 137 new recoveries, said the director of Epidemiology and Disease Control at the ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its TV channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
No new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, keeping the total number of fatalities at 186, El Youbi added, noting that the case-fatality rate caused by the virus among the total number of confirmed cases is steadily decreasing, reaching 3.1%.
He also noted that 2,989 new cases have been excluded after negative laboratory results, bringing the number of excluded cases to 57,149 since the beginning of the epidemic.
In this regard, the official pointed out that 82% of the 199 new cases have been detected thanks to the medical follow-up of contact persons, noting that 9,017 persons are under medical surveillance and quarantine so far.
In addition, he said that a total of 173 new recoveries have been reported , bringing the number of cured people to 2,461, adding that the rate of healing continues to increase, reaching 41.6% this Saturday.
By region, the new cases identified are divided, in particular, between Fez-Meknes, Marrakech-Safi, Tetouan-Tanger-Al Hoceima, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Casablanca-Settat, and, to a lesser extent, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Souss-Massa and the Eastern region, he said, noting that the regions of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla Oued Eddahab do not have any cases.
From a geographical point of view, El Youbi stressed that the region of Casablanca-Settat has the highest number of confirmed cases with a rate of 27%, followed by Marrakech-Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes, Drâa-Tafilalet and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.
As for the average age of those infected, it has dropped to around 35 years, he noted, adding that men represent 53% and women 47%.
The official stressed that the number of cases which are in advanced or critical health condition has decreased to 2%, while 89% of the cases show mild or no symptoms.
He also said that new cases are always discovered in family or professional clusters.
