The services of the Casablanca prefecture of police had been informed of the possession by the person concerned of a batch of firearms, said the national police (DGSN) in a statement, adding that following this information a search operation was conducted at his home and led to the seizure of three pistols and a handful of hunting rifles as well as several hunting cartridges.

According to the initial elements of the investigation, the seized firearms are supposed to belong to the father of the person concerned, who had previously served in the ranks of the army, added the same source, specifying that he had the necessary authorizations for the possession of the shotgun whose parts had been found in his possession.

 A judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office has been opened, pending the results of the ballistic expertise to which these firearms are subjected in order to determine their origin and the circumstances of their possession, the DGSN concluded.
