In a clarification in reaction to what was published by some websites on "the suspension by the director of the local prison of Tangier of two officials and the freezing of their salaries after they requested protection against the new coronavirus", the DGAPR said that the files of the persons concerned will be submitted to the disciplinary board, adding that the suspension took place on the decision of the president of the administration and that it was not a decision of the director of the penitentiary facility.
The decision comes in the wake of administrative infractions committed by these officilas and which concern non-compliance with the statutes and laws in force in this sector, particularly those provided for in the special status of DGAPR officials, the Code of ethics and professional duties, indicated the Delegation, noting that the said regulations require officials to be disciplined, to respect hierarchical authority and to comply with the rules of the paramilitary regime, and prohibit them from carrying out any action or behaviour or from disseminating anything that may undermine the security of prisons or the dignity of the function or administration.
The Delegation also commended the efforts made by the department's officials in the performance of their national duty at this particular exceptional juncture in the Kingdom, stating that it will not hesitate to take strict disciplinary measures, in accordance with the law, against officials who fail in the performance of their professional duties and who do not comply with the code of conduct provided for in the legal and regulatory provisions in force in the sector, concluded the same source.
