More than 75 school children among those benefiting from this program, launched by the Foundation and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and their partners on Monday, May 11, 2020 under the sign "The Child is for now", will benefit from donations in digital tablets equipped with internet connections, according to a joint statement by the Foundation and UNICEF.
This action will enable these children to continue their distance learning, like other pupils, and to have access to the various complementary educational and pedagogical content made available to them on the Foundation's initiative, thanks to the assistance of partners specializing in this field, the statement noted.
This action will be carried out in parallel with a second solidarity initiative for the benefit of more than 346 vulnerable families of the children covered by the above-mentioned program, in the form of food aid and hygiene kits.
All the managers of the 8 support and reintegration Centers of the Mohammed VI Foundation, deployed in different regions of the Kingdom: Casablanca, Fez, Tangier, Salé, Oujda, Beni Mellal, Marrakech and Agadir, are mobilized in close coordination with the competent local authorities for the conduct of these two solidarity actions.
Donation distribution operations are conducted "in full compliance" with the prevention measures recommended by Morocco to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), particularly those applicable during the containment period and the state of health emergency, noted the same source.
These two actions come in the wake of the integrated program designed by the Mohammed VI Foundation in partnership with UNICEF and co-financed by the European Union as part of the "Himaya" program, dedicated to children who have benefited from alternatives to institutional placement in response to the current pandemic and health emergency situation.
The program is meant to ensure the effective socio-economic reintegration of former child inmates of penal institutions and child protection centers, while ensuring that the best interests of the child are guaranteed, the same source concluded.
