Ninety-five new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Morocco over the past 24 hours until Thursday at 4 p.m., bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Kingdom to 6,607, El Youbi added.
Nearly half of the new confirmes cases were recorded in Casablanca-Settat region, while the rest were registered in the regions of Marrakech-Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, the official said.
In this regard, he noted that most of the new cases (81 out of 95) were detected through the medical follow-up of people who had contact with confirmed cases, ie a rate of 86%, adding that the number of these people has reached 37,290, including 7,973 who are under medical surveillance.
The total number of excluded cases following negative tests has reached 71,315 since the start of the epidemic, including 1,957 cases in the past 24 hours, he said.
According to El Youbi, 91% of Covid-19 patients showed no clinical symptoms or had very mild symptoms, 8% were in a mild condition and 1% were in advanced or serious condition.
The official said 58% of the confirmed cases were male and 42% female, noting that the average age of Covid-19 patients is 35.
Regarding the geographical spread of the virus, Casablanca-Settat is the worst hit with 29% of the total of cases, ahead of Marrakech-Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra and Draa-Tafilalet, he said, adding that no case has been recorded for several days in the regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, Guelmim-Oued Noun and Béni Mellal-Khenifra.
The ministry of Health urges citizens to observe rules of hygiene, implement the precautionary measures issued by the public authorities, act with responsibility and show patriotism.
