This partnership, signed by the UNHCR representative in Morocco, François Reybet-Degat, and president of CNOM, Mohammadin Boubekri, is part of the support to the National Immigration and Asylum Policy, initiated in accordance with the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI in September 2013.
Under the terms of this agreement, CNOM undertakes to support the populations of refugees and asylum-seekers by providing consultations in the various medical specialties, including psychology, by volunteer doctors.
CNOM also undertakes to support the UNHCR in its efforts to establish agreements with Moroccan clinics and laboratories, but also to donate medicines for the benefit of refugees.
"The focus of this agreement is threefold: drug donations, access to mental health care and access to specialist health care," Reybet-Degat told the press, adding that mental health care is of paramount importance in normal times, but especially in these times of confinement due to Covid-19.
The official said that the partnership will provide valuable assistance to foreign populations living in Morocco, noting that it will enable asylum seekers and refugees to have easier access to health care.
"This agreement is of particular importance in view of the exceptional circumstances that Morocco, like all countries in the world, is experiencing," he stressed, highlighting the precarious situation of asylum seekers and refugees.
"This partnership is very symbolic, as are all the expressions of solidarity and hospitality shown by Morocco and its people," he said, affirming that it is in line with the spirit of the "inclusive" national immigration and asylum strategy that the Kingdom has put in place in 2014.
For his part, Boubekri stressed the importance of this agreement, highlighting the support and assistance it provides to foreign asylum seekers and refugees in Morocco.
