Moroccans remain at the top of the ranking of non-EU foreign workers contributing to social security in Spain, followed by the Chinese (78,442), Colombians (70,089) and Ecuadorians (66,551), according to ministry data, published Friday.
The total number of foreigners affiliated to Spanish social security reached 1,972,552 people in the first four months of 2020, down 5.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, meaning 113,848 less active people due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The number of Moroccans legally established in Spain was estimated at 864,546 people on January 1, up 6.3% from a year earlier, the equivalent of 50,959 people, according to the latest figures from the National Institute of statistics (INE).
