The truck, coming from a city in the North of the Kingdom, was intercepted at the "Tit Mellil" toll station near the city of Casablanca, in coordination with the services of the Royal Gendarmerie, National Police (DGSN) said in a release.

The search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 1,766 kg of cannabis resin, which was concealed inside a shipment of agricultural products, the source said, adding that the driver and his collaborator were arrested.

The two suspects were placed on custody pending the end of investigations carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.

Investigations are underway to arrest all the people involved in this criminal activity, the source pointed out.

This security operation is part of the ongoing efforts made by national police, in coordination with the services of the DGST and the Royal Gendarmerie, with the aim of fighting against drug trafficking.
