During a consultation meeting with the secretaries-general of the most representative trade union organizations, El Otmani expressed the government's readiness to examine these proposals, given that trade unions remain an essential partner contributing to the defense of the economic and social interests of employees and the promotion of social stability, according to a statement by the head of government's department.
This meeting, which is part of the consultations announced by the head of government before the two Houses of Parliament, was an opportunity to exchange views and discuss the main aspects of the trade unions' proposals while waiting for them to prepare written memoranda on the easing of confinement measures and the economic recovery plan that the government is preparing, as well as the amending finance bill for the year 2020, El Otmani said.
During this meeting, El Otmani recalled some of the measures taken, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, which enabled the Kingdom to avoid the worst in terms of health and social conditions and to control the spread of the epidemic.
He presented, on this occasion, data on the economic situation, citing in particular the slowdown of exports which reached 95 pc in some sectors, the paralysis which affected the sector of tourism or the remarkable drop in remittances from Moroccans living abroad.
El Otmani also said that other sectors, such as agriculture, agri-food and fisheries, have maintained their activities, thus ensuring a permanent supply to the markets.
Other sectors have seen a rebound in their activities such as the production of medical supplies, including disinfectants and protective masks, for which Morocco has achieved self-sufficiency and even started to export them, he noted.
