Thus, 24,926 detainees benefited from remote trials to spare them all the health risks in this exceptional situation marked by the spread of the coronavirus, said the Council in a press release, highlighting the significant results and the positive indicators noted during the first month of implementing this operation.

The CSPJ said it was proud of the serious and responsible involvement of all authorities, institutions and professionals of the justice system in a framework of harmonious cooperation with the aim of carrying out properly this project.

In this regard, it stressed the scope of these promising results in terms of organization and human rights, noting that this is an encouragement to ensure success for this ambitious initiative in a context marked by the health crisis, a fact that imposes the protection of the health of prisoners, civil servants and users.

This initiative also enabled the judiciary to fully carry out its missions and honor its commitments in accordance with legal and constitutional guarantees, with full respect of the requirements of a fair trial and deadlines.

The Council ensures the optimal implementation of remote trials, by monitoring the organizational, technical and human aspects in a spirit of responsibility and professionalism, while complying with the principles of governance, transparency and openness and the CSPJ's strategic plan, concluded the press release.
