These new cases were recorded in the region of Marrakech-Safi (31 cases in a large family cluster in connection with a previously recorded case), in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (22), in Fez-Meknès (14), in Casablanca-Settat (12), in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (2), while the other regions of the Kingdom have not recorded any cases, said Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of health, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its television channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
Of the 81 new confirmed cases, 78, that is 96%, were detected as part of the contact person tracking system, which has so far reached 47,607 cases, the official said, adding that 7,472 contact persons are still benefitting from medical monitoring.
13,105 additional cases were excluded after negative laboratory tests, that is a total of 253,007 excluded cases, he said.
The death toll has risen to 208 after announcing two new deaths (in Guelmim and Rabat) in the past 24 hours, said Mrabet, adding that the fatality rate has reached 2.6%, largely lower than the global average which currently stands at 5.9%.
In addition, the official said that 329 cases of recovery have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing to 7,195 the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom, a rate of 90%, higher than the global rate (48,3%) and the African rate (43.9%).
The number of active cases, that is, people still in the care of health facilities, is 600, that is a rate of 1.7/100,000 inhabitants, he said, noting that 15 cases are in intensive care and are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (10 cases including 4 using artificial respiration), Marrakech-Safi (3), Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (1 case using artificial respiration) and Fez-Meknes (only one case).
