The Covid-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of regional blocs and highlighted the advantages of Morocco's accession to ECOWAS on a multidimensional level, Fassi Fihri said, adding that the Kingdom's integration within this community could be relevant in terms of West Africa's industrial sovereignty and the independence of supply chains and industrial production.
He also called for greater capitalization on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), saying that Morocco, with its mature and innovative industrial ecosystem, has an undeniable role to play in this regard.
"Today the African continent has shown, despite the crisis, a form of resilience in terms of innovation and industrialization," Fassi Fihri noted, adding that Africa has a number of assets and characteristics of resilience in this context of renewed globalization.
Indeed, Morocco benefits from a number of free trade agreements with major powers, such as the United States and Europe, he said, noting that these agreements can be reviewed to safeguard the development of the national and continental industrial fabric.
He stressed in this regard that Morocco, through its innovative industrial ecosystem and its geographical proximity, can bring China closer to Europe by capturing Chinese industrial investments.
