This figure has been recorded since the authorization to export face masks (in woven and non-woven fabric) on May 21, 2020 until June 8, said the ministry in a press release, specifying that the masks in woven fabric represent 77% of these exports, against 23% in non-woven fabric.
The export of masks, authorized after ensuring national self-sufficiency in this area, concerned Europe, firstly, notably France with 33.6% of exports, followed by Portugal with 28.5%, then Spain with 14.6%, the ministry said.
It added that other countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia also imported face masks made in Morocco.
"The export of face masks represents both the trust in the certified quality of the Moroccan product, and a strong opportunity to develop the sector of manufacturing personal protective equipment made up of textile production units and companies having transformed their industrial tool", concluded the same source.
