This zone displays an important rural component, since its urbanization rate is 49.9% against 83.3% at the level of zone 2, said the HCP in the 13th issue of the note dealing with demographic and economic indicators in zones where the lockdown was lifted.
The strong urbanization of zone 2 is also reflected in its density, noted the same source, adding that with 4.278 city dwellers per kmĀ², this zone is 3.5 times denser than zone 1.
Zone 1 is made up of regions with a low number of covid-19 active cases and corresponds to a set of small towns in the interior of the country as well as predominantly rural regions, while Zone 2 (orange), where there is still a significant number of active cases, is made up of major economic regions located for the most part in the Tangier-Casablanca area.
