"In terms of wealth, this area produces nearly 60% of the national gross domestic product (GDP) (base 2017), while it employs 40% of the working population, according to 2019 figures," said the HCP in the 13th issue of the note dealing with demographic and economic indicators of areas where the lockdown was lifted.
On the other hand, slightly more than a third of the active population in zone 1 is employed in the agricultural sector, it added.
Morocco opted on June 11 for a gradual lifting of quarantine restrictions according to two zones 1 and 2. The first being described as a green zone with a large reduction in health restrictions, while zone 2, known as the orange zone, is still under more restrictive measures.
