During the weekly plenary session at the House of Representatives, Taoufik recalled that the ministry had received correspondence in March from the Saudi minister of Hajj, who asked to wait before concluding contracts for accommodation, transport and subsistence services, adding that such contracts are usually concluded several months in advance.
At a meeting of the committee of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccan Expatriates, held on 28 May at the House of Representatives, Taoufik said that "we have no official notification or communication from the Saudi ministry of Hajj concerning what will happen in the coming days (...), but we have had correspondence from the Saudi minister since March, asking to wait before concluding the contracts.
The minister also pointed out that "so far, we have not signed any contracts related to accommodation, transport and subsistence services", adding that "the pilgrimage requires a lot of organization, measures and time and that the matter is based on the decision of the Saudi authorities".
