Fettah, who took part in a virtual meeting of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, said that the Kingdom works for the reinforcement of the joint Arab action and the consolidation of the distinguished relations which the Arab countries maintain at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
During this meeting, the Minister also highlighted the resilience of the tourism sector and its ability to cope with crises affecting global tourism activities, stressing the importance of strengthening solidarity and joint action among all Arab countries.
She also underscored the need to benefit from the support provided by the Arab League, the World Tourism Organization and other Arab and regional organizations to mitigate the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic and revive the tourism sector.
The minister underlined that under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, the government has put in place a response and management strategy to mitigate the impact of the pandemic which has put the health and safety of citizens at the heart of its priorities, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy said in a press release.
These measures have also made it possible to provide a structured response to preserve jobs and revive the economy, in particular through the creation of a dedicated fund.
Regarding the measures taken by Morocco to revive the tourism sector, the minister mentioned the development of a digital platform to strengthen the capacity of tourism operators, the adoption of the law enacting specific measures for tourist travel and stay contracts and passenger air transport contracts which aims to reduce the pressure on the cash flow of service providers, the preparation of a guide on health measures adopted by Moroccan tourism operators and the implementation of several recommendations on safety and health measures, which are intended for professionals in the sector.
A declaration was adopted at the urgent session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism with the aim of mitigating the negative impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector, the source added.
