During the extraordinary remote meeting and at the initiative of the Arab Women's Commission, held on Wednesday on "the study of the effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19) on women and girls ... opportunities and challenges", the Minister stressed that the exceptional circumstances associated with the fight against the repercussions of Covid-19 required a high level of patriotism, commitment, solidarity, cooperation and national creativity, in order to find adequate solutions to counter the spread of this pandemic and face its health, economic and social repercussions.
Quoted in a press release from the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and Family, she highlighted the adaptation of different programs to the new situation, the continuous monitoring of populations at risk due to the pandemic and on-site support for the protection of vulnerable groups, highlighting the adaptation of Moroccan industry to this exceptional situation.
El Moussali addressed the various emergency measures and initiatives for the protection of vulnerable groups, notably street children, people with disabilities, women and girls in difficult situations, the elderly and homeless people.
El Moussali recalled the launch of a national child protection plan, as well as a national digital awareness campaign to protect women and girls from all forms of violence, especially during periods of quarantine and promote values of peace and serenity within the family.
She highlighted the establishment of the "Kolona Maak" platform dedicated to listening, supporting and guiding women and girls in precarious situations and launching a digital awareness campaign.
The Minister stressed that the social protection centers have played an important role in the programs of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and Family, through several initiatives and procedures for the benefit of children, the elderly and disabled people inside institutions.
El Moussali did not fail to present the measures put in place by the Kingdom to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, under the directives of HM King Mohammed VI, highlighting the support for some 7,000 Moroccan citizens stranded abroad, and nearly 5 million households impacted by the pandemic and thousands of employees on temporary work stoppages.
