In an article published by the daily newspaper "La Razon" and the news website "Prensa 21", Sanchez Serra stressed that "Algeria is using the Saharawis as a tool to counter Morocco, the friend who helped it during the war of independence", noting that the priority of the Algerian regime is not the Saharawis but its obsession to find a way out on the Atlantic.

The Peruvian expert, who had visited the Tindouf camps, added: "I am a friend of the Sahrawis, and a friend of the truth. We all want a solution for the Saharawi population who has been living in Tindouf in Algeria for 45 years in inhuman conditions".

"Algeria is preventing the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees from carrying out a census of the population in the camps despite a series of appeals by many countries and organizations," he insisted.

The author of the article drew attention to the fact that Algeria has not built roads for the benefit of the people held against their will, nor provided them with water and electricity or houses. For him, Algeria makes those people "a tool against Morocco", while the representation of the Saharawis claimed by the polisario, which is a mere "puppet", is only an "illusion".

"What is the polisario talking about when it claims to be the sole representative of the Sahrawis," he wondered, noting that the United Nations does not recognize this entity and that its presence at the UN-sponsored talks can in no way be equated with recognition.

Sanchez Serra added that "the Sahrawis in Tindouf are hostages, otherwise why don't the separatists remove the police checkpoints that are set up everywhere? They will not do so because they know that the entire population will return to Morocco as thousands of people have done in the past".

In the same vein, he recalled the creation of the "Saharawi Movement for Peace" (MSP), noting that the latter is a "real democratic alternative to the authoritarian polisario front, which the Algerian regime exploits as "cannon fodder" against Morocco.

He affirmed that the MSP seeks to release the detainees in Tindouf and to "find a pragmatic and peaceful solution to this problem", stating that the Sahrawis can no longer live in Tindouf in "difficult conditions, without work and without hope".

In this regard, the Peruvian expert highlighted the autonomy proposal presented by Morocco, noting that "the UN Security Council describes the Moroccan initiative as serious and credible, with a view to a political solution to the artificial dispute" over the Moroccan Sahara.

 The author of the article, who highlighted the irrefutable historical arguments attesting to the Moroccanness of the Sahara, said that the Kingdom "still demands respect for its territorial integrity", because it is a "question of sovereignty".

Referring to the situation in the Southern provinces, he praised the climate of freedom there and the participation of the population in political life, as evidenced by the high rate of participation in elections in those regions, recalling that the National Human Rights Council has two commissions in Laayoune and Dakhla.

Beyond the illusions that the polisario seeks to promote, "the international community will not accept that it holds the populations in Tindouf against their will with the complicity of the Algerian leaders," concluded the Peruvian expert.
