Responding to a central question at the House of Representatives relating to "the ministry's plan to counter the repercussions of the pandemic of the new coronavirus, in the light of the gradual lockdown lifting", the minister said that some 11 million invoices will be rescheduled and payment facilities will be granted, assuring that ONEE will not cut the electricity.
Regarding preventive measures to deal with the pandemic, Rabbah highlighted the establishment of a watch committee to monitor the power supply process, fuel stocks allocated to electricity production and continuity of supply in the various regions of the Kingdom.
These measures are also related to setting additional time limits for reading meters and distributing invoices, said Rabbah, adding that consumption during the quarantine period will be reviewed. ONEE maintenance teams will remain mobilized, particularly in remote areas, he said.
Regarding hydrocarbons and gas, the government official said that there was not the slightest imbalance in this area, thanks in particular to coordination between the Ministry of Interior, of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, of Industry, Trade, and Green and Digital Economy, walis and governors and the private sector.
Addressing the impact of the pandemic on the hydrocarbon sector, the minister noted that a 70% drop in sales was noticed in service stations, adding that some were forced to stop their activity given the absence of travelers during the quarantine.
