Covid19: Royal Initiative, Example of Solidarity That Must Be Developed Everywhere in Africa, AU Commissioner for Economic Affairs

Addis Ababa - HM King Mohammed VI's initiative to provide medical aid to several African countries to support them in their efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic gives the proof and offers an example of solidarity that must be developed everywhere in Africa, said on Tuesday in Addis Ababa, the AU Commissioner for Economic Affairs Victor Harison.

Morocco, which was also affected by the Covid-19 pandemic "wanted to bring this touch of solidarity with its African brothers, said Harison in a statement to MAP.

He wished to express his sincere thanks to HM King Mohammed VI, and the Moroccan government and people for "this noble initiative made up of donations of medical products and materials made in Morocco and by Moroccans".

The AU Commissioner for Economic Affairs also stressed Africa's need, within the framework of the emerging new world order, to reposition itself and turn the pandemic into an opportunity, using its human potential and its inexhaustible resources.

The aid is composed of face masks, visors, hygiene caps, coats, hydroalcoholic gel, as well as packs of chloroquine and Azithromycin.

This solidarity action is part of the implementation of the Initiative launched by HM the King on April 13, 2020, as a pragmatic and action-oriented approach, intended for the brotherly African countries, enabling the sharing of experiences and good practices and aiming to establish an operational framework in order to support their efforts in the various phases of the pandemic management.
