"At a time when the entire continent, indeed the entire world, is facing the ravages of this pandemic, this initiative is a proof of an active and clear solidarity of His Majesty the King towards Africa," said Kwesi Quartey who was speaking at a meeting on Tuesday at the AU headquarters with Morocco's Permanent Representative to the AU and UNECA, ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi.
The Kingdom is "the first in good and bad times, which shows that it is not only a true friend, it is a close brother" of Africa, Quartey said, while commending Morocco's actions within the pan-African organization.
With the Kingdom's return to the African Union, HM the King "has shown us that Morocco has never really left it, that the heart of Morocco has always been in Africa and this goes back to the origins of national liberation, continental liberation, continental integration," said the AUC deputy chairman.
