This quantity of drug was discovered in the trunk of the suspected car, apprehended at the level of the security checkpoint at the entrance of the city, said a statement from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), adding that the driver, a police sergeant working in Meknes, as well as four members of his family boarding the vehicle, including a minor son aged 15, were arrested.

The suspected policeman and his companions were subjected to a preliminary investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office with a view to elucidating the ins and outs of this case, determining the involvement of each one of them and arresting all potential accomplices in these criminal acts, the same source said.

This case is part of the tireless efforts made jointly by the services of the National Police and Territorial Surveillance to fight international trafficking in drugs and psychotropic pills, the statement concluded.
