This new figure brings to 12,533 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the declaration of the first case on March 2, and to 8,920 the number of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of around 71%, said the head of the epidemic diseases division at the Department of Epidemiology under the Ministry of Health Hind Ezzine.
The death toll stands at 228 after announcing three new deaths in the past 24 hours, a fatality rate at 1.8%, she added.
Regarding the geographical distribution of new cases, 92 new cases were identified in the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (80 cases in Tangier, 7 cases in Ouazzane, 3 cases in Larache, 1 case in Fnidek and 1 case in Tétouan), 72 new cases in the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (all in the city of Laâyoune), 48 new cases in the region of Casablanca-Settat (38 cases in Casablanca, 4 cases in Mohammedia, 2 cases in El Jadida, 2 cases in Sidi Bennour and 2 cases in Médiouna), 15 new cases in the Marrakech-Safi region (9 cases in Marrakech, 2 cases in Safi, 2 cases in Al Haouz and 2 cases in El Kelâa des Sraghna), 11 new cases in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (7 cases in Kénitra, 2 cases in Sidi Kacem and 2 cases in Sidi Slimane), 4 new cases in the region of Fez-Meknès (all in the city of Fez), and 1 new case in the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (in Dakhla), while the other regions have registered no new cases, said the official.
Referring to the contact person tracking system, the official indicated that their number has currently reached 66,859, of which 10,804 are still under medical supervision, noting that the number of cases excluded after negative test results carried out in the laboratory is 658,668.
Regarding active cases, Ezzine noted that 3,853 patients are currently under treatment, 18 of whom are in critical condition and receiving the necessary care.
The ministry invites citizens to respect the rules of hygiene and health security as well as the preventive measures taken by the authorities, by showing responsibility and patriotism.
