In a press release, the Nicaragua-Morocco friendship group at the National Assembly (Parliament) expressed its support for the Kingdom of Morocco's efforts to find a political solution in order to solve this regional dispute, and deemed that the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco in 2007 "is realistic and constitutes an important step to reach a negotiated settlement to this dispute".
"The resolution of this political dispute will contribute to the achievement of the legitimate aspirations of the African and Arab peoples in matters of integration, that is why we welcome, from Central America, any effort of dialogue and regional development", underlined the chairman of the parliamentary friendship group Wendy Maria Guido, quoted in the press release.
Welcoming Morocco's initiatives to promote south-south cooperation and its efforts to help African countries in their policies to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Nicaraguan parliamentarians called for strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Central American countries through giving concrete substance to South-South cooperation.
The creation of this group, made up of parliamentarians from different political parties in this Central American country, aims to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation and bring the two countries closer.
