This new figure brings to 14,215 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the declaration of the first case on March 2, and to 9,725 the number of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of about 68.4%, said the Head of the Epidemic Diseases Division at the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health Hind Ezzine.
The death toll reached 235 after announcing three new deaths, a fatality rate of 1.7%, she added.
Regarding the geographical distribution of new cases, 215 new cases were identified in the Marrakech-Safi region (203 in Safi in a professional site, 11 in Marrakech and 1 in El Haouz), 35 cases in the Fez-Meknes region (30 cases in Fez, 2 in Moulay Yaacoub, 1 in Taza, 1 in Ifrane and 1 case in Taounate), 65 cases in the Casablanca-Settat region (57 cases in Casablanca, 6 in Mediouna and 2 in Mohammedia) and 31 cases in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (12 cases in Tangier, 10 in Tétouan, 1 in Larache, 1 in Ouazane, and 7 in Fahs-Anjra), said the official.
In addition, 38 cases were recorded in the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (all in Laâyoune), 3 cases in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1 case in Témara, 1 case in Salé and another one in Sidi Slimane ), 3 cases in the eastern region (in Jerrada) and 3 other cases in the Guelmim-Oued-Noun region (in Tan-Tan), while the other regions (Béni-Mellal-Khénifra, Draâ-Tafilalet and Souss-Massa and Dakhla-Oued Dahab) have not registered any new cases, she noted.
Referring to the contact person tracking system which enabled the detection of 92% of the 393 new cases, 98% of which are asymptomatic, the official noted that their number has currently reached 75,731, of which 15,321 are still under medical supervision, whereas the number of cases excluded after negative test results was 751,365.
Regarding active cases, Ezzine noted that 4,255 patients are currently under treatment, 17 of whom are in critical condition due to risk factors.
In addition, the ministry invites citizens to respect the preventive and proactive measures adopted, in particular the wearing of a protective mask during working hours, regular washing of hands, respect for social distancing in the workplace and ensuring the ventilation of work premises.
The ministry also encourages employees who present symptoms similar to those of the coronavirus (fever, sneezing, cough, etc.) not to go to work until their illness is screened.
