This new figure brings to 14,771 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the declaration of the first case on March 2, and to 11,316 the number of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of about 76.6%, said the Head of the Epidemic Diseases Division at the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health Hind Ezzine.
The death toll has reached 242, with two deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, a fatality rate of 1.6%, she added.
Regarding the geographical distribution of new cases, 49 were identified in the Casablanca-Settat region (28 cases in Casablanca, 12 in Sidi Bennour, 4 in Settat, 3 in Mohamedia, 1 in Médiouna and 1 in Berrechid ), 42 cases in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region (31 in Tangier, 7 cases in Tétouan, 3 in Mdiq and 1 in Ouezzane), 21 in the Fez-Meknès region (13 cases in Fez, 5 in Meknès, 1 in Ifrane and 2 in Touanate), 12 in the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (all in Laâyoune), 5 cases in the region of Guelmim-Oued-Noun (all in Sidi Ifni) and 14 cases in the region of Marrakech-Safi (13 in El Haouz and 1 in Kelâat Esraghna), said the official.
In addition, 14 cases were recorded in the eastern region (all in Jerrada), 1 case in the Béni-Mellal-Khénifra region (in Khénifra), 6 cases in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region (5 in Sidi Kacem and 1 in Sidi Slimane), while the other regions registered no new cases, she said.
Referring to the contact person tracking system, the official noted that their number has currently reached 78,900, of which 16,221 are still under medical surveillance, while the number of cases excluded after negative test results is 804.353.
Regarding active cases, Ezzine noted that 3,213 patients are currently under treatment, including 20 cases in intensive care and 4 intubated, because of old age or chronic diseases, or both.
These active cases are distributed geographically as follows, 686 in the region of Marrakech-Safi, 631 in the region of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, 591 in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, 402 in the region Fez-Meknès, 392 in the Casablanca-Settat region, 388 in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, 54 in the Guelmim-Oued Noune region, 40 in the eastern region, 19 in the Béni-Mellal-Khénifra region, 9 in the Dakhla-Oued Dahab region.
The ministry invites citizens to mandatory compliance with preventive measures, notably the correct wearing of face masks, regular hand washing, social distancing and the use of the "wiqaytna application" as well as the regular activation of Bluetooth to ensure the tracking of contact persons, she concluded.
