Chairing the first meeting of the Agency's Board of Directors, under the General Directorate of Public Infrastructure of the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, El Otmani said that the creation of this agency aims essentially to alleviate the pressure on the ministerial departments, public establishments and local authorities so that they focus their action on the crucial missions which are entrusted to them, wrote a press release from the department of the head of government.
It also aims to foster the principles of good governance through the rationalization of the intervention of administrative structures in charge of the construction of public buildings, he added during this meeting, devoted to the establishment of organizational and management foundations of the Agency, as well as its missions and prospects for its action during the next stage.
El Otmani also expressed his pride over the results of the Directorate General of Public Infrastructure, which has shown competence and professionalism, as evidenced by the large number of public infrastructure and buildings it has overseen, including the large stadiums of Rabat, Fez, Marrakech and Agadir and the university hospital centers of Fez and Marrakech, in addition to the Mohammed VI Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco and several buildings and administrative offices in different cities of the Kingdom.
The expertise from which the agency will benefit in carrying out public projects constitutes an essential guarantee for the implementation of construction and renovation operations with the required quality, cost and deadlines, he said, stating that the amount of the portfolio of projects entrusted to the agency is 18 billion dirhams.
This portfolio will experience significant development in the coming years, given the investments planned in the building and public works sector, assured El Otmani, indicating that the government considers this sector as one of the main sources for the revival of the national economy, especially after this exceptional difficult situation that Morocco and the world are going through due to the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).
