This first trip, which took place in good conditions, is part of the specific plan of action aimed at enabling Moroccan citizens and foreign residents in the Kingdom, as well as their families, to have access to the national territory.
The ship, which provided this first inaugural link of the special passenger transport operation exclusively from the ports of Sète (in France) and Genoa (in Italy), docked at the port of Beni Nsar in the early afternoon, with more than 1,000 passengers and nearly 400 vehicles on board.
All health and safety measures have been taken at the port of Beni Nsar in accordance with the conditions imposed by the authorities concerned to accommodate passengers safely.
As part of the specific action plan to enable the return to the Kingdom of Moroccan citizens and foreigners residing in Morocco, the ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water has established contacts with the authorities of the connecting ports in France and Italy, in order to coordinate all port and maritime operations.
In a statement to MAP, the regional coordinator of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, Samir Benayada, stressed that the Foundation has mobilized social assistance teams and medical staff to ensure a quality welcome to members of the Moroccan community living abroad, especially in this particular context that Morocco, like other countries in the world, is experiencing because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
