This ceremony, held through videoconference in collaboration with the University of Al-Quds under the theme "for a bright and promising future for the new generations of Al-Quds", was an opportunity to pay tribute to five brilliant students in medicine and pharmacy on the occasion of the end of the 2019-2020 academic year.
The agency, which seeks to support the health sector and to strengthen the capacities of medical staff in the holy city, decided at the beginning of the year to offer scholarships to students at the level of scientific disciplines while giving priority to the specialties of medicine and pharmacy, said on this occasion the director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al Acharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui.
He noted in this regard that training in scientific disciplines has become more expensive compared to other disciplines and that most of the families in Al-Quds cannot afford to pay for it.
"Today we are celebrating the best five students and awarding scholarships to twenty new ones and, at the same time, we are celebrating the success of the study program in Moroccan universities and institutes launched years ago by the agency", he said, noting that more than 17 graduate students from Moroccan universities have benefited from this program.
For his part, the Palestinian ambassador in Rabat, Jamal Choubki, said this is a great opportunity to reiterate Morocco's support for Al-Quds through scholarships awarded in scientific disciplines, particularly medicine and pharmacy.
This action is part of the long-standing efforts made by the Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif agency to support health and educational institutions, he added.
In his turn, Abdelmalek Lakhili from the Council of the City of Casablanca, indicated that the city council is engaging in actions in support of the students of the holy city, mentioning in this regard a donation of 10 million DH over five years.
The first part of this donation (2 Million DH) is dedicated, according to him, to the financing of the Agency's program to promote the health and education sectors in Al-Quds amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on this occasion, the Vice-President of Al-Quds University, Safae Nasreddine, expressed her gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, for his continued support to Al-Quds in various fields, including his support to mitigate the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.
