In a statement, the Council specified that in the context of the referral relating to the existence of possible practices restricting free and fair competition in the market of liquid fuels, and in application of the provisions of Law n°20.13 relating to the Competition Council, and of Law 104.12 relating to the freedom of prices and competition, the Council informs that "its deliberations are still ongoing".

In this regard, the Competition Council will communicate to the various parties concerned, as well as to national public opinion, the decision concerning the above-mentioned referral, as soon as the procedural arrangements provided for by law have been completed.

"Therefore, the Competition Council declines all responsibility for the information reported by certain media outlets concerning the sanctions imposed on the oil companies concerned by the aforementioned referral," the same source said.

The statement recalled that "the Competition Council is the only body empowered to communicate officially on the decisions adopted by its deliberative bodies".
