"The Covid-19 home health care protocol only concerns asymptomatic cases that do not represent any clinical sign and people who respond to a number of conditions, such as the absence of risk factors as old age, chronic diseases, pregnancy and breastfeeding," he explained in a statement to MAP.
Mrabet noted that the home care process applies to people who meet the favorable conditions for isolation, notably a well-ventilated single room and the absence of vulnerable people living under the same roof, stressing that the home health care decision must also take into account the patient's opinion and his readiness to take this alternative.
"This protocol stems from a number of observations and data in the field which revealed that a large part of asymptomatic cases refuse to be treated in hospitals, since they have no clinical signs. and that they are doing well. For them, they are not sick and it is very difficult to convince them to receive medical care in the hospital," he explained.
The official said that "faced with this finding, the Scientific, Technical and Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health for the Covid-19 management recommended that people without clinical signs can receive health care at home, while in line with the guidelines of all international organizations".
At the same time, he considered that such an approach will help ease the pressure on various hospital facilities and to meet the great need of this category. The general objective is to take care of them, treat them and avoid any contamination of people close to patients, he concluded./
