In a press release, the wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region said that these measures are of a general nature encompassing the entire territorial jurisdiction of the prefecture and others are specific to certain urban areas.
With regard to general measures encompassing the entire territorial jurisdiction of the prefecture, intense awareness-raising operations were launched with the participation of several services and actors from the private sector, civil society in addition to local media with the aim of raising awareness of the danger of overlooking the preventive measures and its negative repercussions, in particular hygiene, the compulsory and correct wearing of face masks, social distancing, avoiding travel except in cases of extreme necessity and putting an end to certain negative phenomena such as street gatherings.
The same source underlined that these general measures also concern the intensification of disinfection and sterilization operations, the intensification of movement control at the city's entrances and between neighborhoods and taking legal measures with firmness against offenders, setting closing times for markets and souikates at 5:00 p.m., compliance with the extreme limit of reception capacity set at 50%, the closure of cafes and restaurants not respecting preventive measures and total closure of gardens, green spaces and banning gatherings in public spaces and in front of banks and other agencies.
Concerning the measures specific to 07 urban areas, and on the basis of objective data and statistics on the epidemiological situation, it was decided to specify 07 urban areas which require, in addition to the general measures already mentioned, other specific measures.
These are the areas of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, Hay Hassani, Hay Mohammadi, M'hamid, Menara, Jemaa Fna and Kechich.
The measures relating to these zones concern the intensification of control operations, the partial or total closure of certain neighbourhoods to stop the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) while limiting movements except in cases of extreme necessity (work, health reasons or shopping). In addition, closing hours of cafes and restaurants were set at 10 p.m.
