The suspects, aged 37 and 39, were arrested in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie at a road checkpoint at the entrance of the city of Agadir, upon their arrival on board a truck and a car, National Police (DGSN) said in a release.

Search operations led to the seizure of one ton and 376 kilograms of cannabis resin, the source added.

The two suspects were placed on custody pending the end of investigations carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.

This operation is part of efforts made by security services to fight against international drug trafficking networks.
