Malian President Announces Resignation, Parliament Dissolution
Bamako - Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita said in a speech broadcast on state television that he was resigning a few hours after mutineers detained him Tuesday.
In a televised address he said he was also dissolving the government and parliament, adding: "I want no blood to be spilled to keep me in power."
The Mali mutiny began at a military base near the capital, Bamako.
