The two suspects, aged 20 and 34, were arrested aboard a four-wheel vehicle in the southern city of Laayoune, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.

Search operations in the vehicle led to the seizure of a hunting rifle and 92 cartridges, the source pointed out, adding that policemen discovered at the home of one of the suspects 493 kilograms of cannabis resin.

The suspects were placed on custody, while an investigation was opened by the competent public prosecutor's office.

This operation is part of efforts made by national security forces to fight against all criminal activities.
