Speaking during the virtual symposium themed: "The provision of affordable housing as an economic recovery strategy in the COVID 19 era in Africa", the Minister noted that this meeting supports the vision of HM King Mohammed VI relating to fostering South-South cooperation between African countries for the promotion of economic development in the continent.
"It is necessary to learn from the Covid-19 crisis in the area of housing," said the government official, adding that this health crisis has created new demands in terms of housing.
"The housing sector requires reflection and a new vision, which would make it possible to improve the quality and the living environment of the citizen", she underlined, adding that this vision must be proactive, participatory and based on partnership, taking into account the specific needs of each social segment.
The theme of housing is a priority for the Moroccan government, said the official, noting that every Moroccan and African citizen is entitled to decent housing and a healthy lifestyle.
In this regard, the Minister affirmed that the health crisis that Morocco is experiencing, like other countries in the world, has shown the importance of the housing sector and its contribution to the fight against precariousness and social disparities.
Organized within the framework of the 39th Annual General Assembly of Shelter Afrique, which will convene on Thursday, this symposium was attended by government officials and experts who discussed the main aspects relating to the provision of affordable housing on a broad scope as a key strategy to boost economic recovery in Africa in the era of COVID 19.
