A police patrol had intervened to arrest the suspect, 23, who was a subject of several search warrant for his alleged involvement in cases of robbery, said a statement from the National Police (DGSN), adding that the individual violently confronted the elements of the patrol injuring one of them with a sharp weapon.

The situation forced the policemen to use his gun and fire a single shot that hit the suspect in the thigh, thereby neutralizing the danger and arresting the individual, the source added.

The suspect was transferred to the hospital for treatment awaiting to be heard by the judicial police as part of a preliminary investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to determine the ins and outs of this case, the national police concluded.
