Search operations led to the seizure of 959 kg of cannabis resin in Boukraa, about 140 km from Laayoune, National Police (DGSN) said in a release.

According to initial investigations, the man was wanted by police for his alleged links to the criminal network dismantled last June in Laayoune, which was in possession of 5.89 tons of cannabis resin, a Kalashnikov and ammunition, the source added.

The suspect was placed on custody pending the end of investigations conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
