In Morocco, statistics have several challenges to overcome. I will only mention the main one: the establishment as quickly as possible of the legislative and organizational mechanism to give the necessary consistency to a real National Statistical Information System, Lahlimi said in an interview with MAP on the occasion of World Statistics Day, celebrated on October 20.
In this system, he went on, all sources of information, whatever their nature is (governmental, semi-public or private), should be processed in accordance with the same scientific standards made available, in full transparency, for the public and, in particular automatically, at the disposal of the central institution in charge of official statistics, namely the HCP.
"It is now a pressing need that this institution gets access to all sources of information on all the activities of public, semi-public or private institutions, according to the required scientific standards," he insisted.
In this regard, the High Commissioner for Planning recalled the message that HM the King sent, on October 20, 2010, to the participants in the scientific meeting held in celebration of World Statistics Day.
"On this occasion, the Sovereign invited all administrations, companies, professional bodies and structures of civil society, all sectors combined, to intensify coordination and collaboration with official statistical bodies and to institutionalize these efforts," said Lahlimi.
He noted that institutional independence is a major asset of the statistical production system in Morocco.
