"This is an unacceptable and unforgivable act. I denounce and I reject what happened in Algeria where two young people were burned," the president of the Observatory, Ricard Checa, told local media.
"A country like Algeria which claims to be democratic cannot treat a human being this way," he pointed out, adding that the international community and all the institutions working in the area of human rights must react following this act.
"All human beings, wherever they are, must fight against this barbarism. This act must be denounced", he underlined.
Two young Sahrawis were burnt alive on the night of October 19 to 20, near the Tindouf camps by a group of Algerian soldiers, while they were looking for gold flakes to survive.
Moha Ould Hamdi Ould Sweilm and Aliyin Idrissi were spotted by elements of the Algerian army who chased them down, firing live ammunition at them. The two young people tried to flee death by hiding in a dry well. The Algerian soldiers then set fire to the well and burned the two young people alive.
