"To build the human resources of the health sector, 5,500 jobs have been provided for under the 2021 appropriation bill, against 4,000 jobs created in 2020, bringing the total number of new jobs for this sector to 19,000 over the 2017-2021 period", said Benchaâboun who was responding to questions by members of the Finance and Economic Development Committee in the House of Advisors, during the general discussion of the 2021 appropriation bill.

The Minister also noted that university hospital centers have also received 3,223 additional jobs during the 2017-2020 period.

In this context, medical and paramedical staff received special attention. "They benefited from the creation of 15,500 new jobs, while only 5,320 employees left the sector during this period for retirement," he said.

As a result, the percentage of medical supervision increased to 2.32 per 10,000 people, the minister said, adding that this percentage is expected to improve over the next few years, and that the rate of paramedical supervision has reached around 8.2 per 10,000 people.

As for the decline in spending for employees in the health sector for the year 2021 compared to 2020, Benchaâboun stressed that this is due to the exceptional measures taken for the benefit of people working in the sector in 2020, coinciding with their mobilization in the face of the pandemic, and this through the regularization of the status of nurses with 3 years of training and the implementation of promotions.
