Police in the district of Moulay Rachid had received a phone call reporting individuals, presumably affiliated with groups of fans of local soccer clubs, for damaging four private cars, exchanging violence and threatening the safety of people and property, a statement from the National Police (DGSN) said on Monday.

These acts required the intervention of police patrols that were met with fierce resistance and rock-throwing, it added. This intervention led to the arrest of 13 of the suspects.

The adult suspects were taken into custody, while the minors were placed under surveillance at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to determine the ins and outs of these criminal acts and to arrest all the alleged perpetrators, the DGSN concluded.
