During a virtual ministerial meeting of the Congo Basin Climate Commission, which she chaired on Wednesday, Sudan-Nonault warmly thanked the Kingdom of Morocco for its unwavering support, through the Climate Change Competence Center (4C Morocco), in carrying out the preliminary study of the Congo Basin Blue Fund, said a press release from the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Environment.

This meeting, in which the Minister of Energy, Mining and Environment Aziz Rabbah took part, aimed to present and validate the preliminary study of the Congo Basin Blue Fund.

According to the press release, support for the establishment of the Congo Basin Blue Fund is part of the operationalization of the Congo Basin Climate Commission, one of the three climate commissions created on the initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the African Action Summit, held on November 16, 2016 in Marrakech, on the sidelines of the COP22.

This study also enabled the development of an investment plan comprising 254 projects for an estimated amount of 8 billion USD.

For his part, Rabbah welcomed the results of the preliminary study of the Congo Basin Blue Fund, carried out with the support of 4C Morocco.

Rabbah also reaffirmed that Morocco, as an associate member of the Congo Basin Climate Commission, will remain committed to its sister countries in the Congo Basin sub-region, within the framework of this project.
