This road section is part of 275 km of expressways, which will require a budget of 4.6 billion DH, the minister pointed out at the weekly oral questions session at the House of Representatives (lower house).
Among these projects, the minister cited the Tetouan-Chefchaouen and Salé-Sidi Allal El Bahraoui expressways (20 km), the north-east bypass Agadir expressway (45 km) and the one connecting Nador and its port "Nador West Med" (35 km).
Other large-scale projects are at the study stage, noted the minister, referring in this regard to the Hajeb-Errachidia-Rissani expressway over 380 km for a budget of 5.7 billion DH and the Ourika tunnel connecting Marrakech and Ouarzazate (10 billion DH).
Morocco has a network of expressways of 1334 km currently open to traffic. A 739 km line is nearing completion, including the Tiznit-Laayoune tracks over 550 km and Tetouan-Chefchaouen.
Amara also underlined that his department has started studies for the construction of 812 km of highways at a cost of 47.1 billion DH, including the Beni Mellal-Fes-Meknes motorway (226km), the Beni Mellal-Marrakech motorway (180 km) and the Guercif-Nador motorway over 105 km.
